What is SLR(Statutory Liquidity Ratio)

Every commercial bank has to keep a certain percentage of it's total deposit (NDTL) in the form of  cash or other liquid assets such as gold and approved government securities, as per the order of the central bank. Which is called SLR (Statutory Liquidity Ratio).


The central bank also increase or decrease the rate of SLR for credit control or creation.
